Dr. Starr earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University and went on to further his education with his DDS degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and his MS in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan. Dr. Starr is married and has three children. When not enjoying their kids' activities, Dr. Starr and his wife enjoy going to concerts, traveling and spending time with friends and family. They particularly enjoy helping support the local schools and community organizations.
Steven Dickens, DDS, MS
Dr. Dickens found his passion for orthodontics in 1996 while working as a researcher for the UNC Orthodontic Department:
"While at UNC, I had great experiences to see firsthand how life changing it can be to help someone smile. I feel very lucky to be in a profession that helps kids and adults feel better about themselves. I especially love seeing people who have just gotten their braces off smile in the mirror and take pride in how good they look."
Dr. Dickens earned his DDS degree and MS in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Dr. Dickens also graduated with distinction and received several awards. All of these achievements came while rabidly cheering for his beloved Tar Heels!
Dr. Dickens lives here in Matthews with his wife, Liz, and their two pets. They enjoy exercising along the Charlotte greenways, traveling, cheering on the Tar Heels, and spending time with their families who include 11 nieces and nephews. Dr. Dickens and his wife have competed in many races including the successful completion of the NYC Marathon.
